Dielectric Relaxor Behavior

A terminology “Dielectric Relaxor” was introduced to describe a type of dielectric relaxation process, which displays the following characteristics:

(1) The dielectric relaxation behavior follows the Cole – Cole equation.
(2) Relaxation rates follow the Arrhenius law.
(3) The permittivity maximum temperature (Tm) is independent of doping concentration.
(4) Tm is also independent of dc electric fields.

The terminology “Dielectric Relaxor” was for first time introduced by CHEN Ang and ZHI Yu to describe the dielectric relaxation behavior observed in Bi doped SrTiO3, see,  CHEN Ang and ZHI Yu, Dielectric relaxor and ferroelectric relaxor: doped paraelectric SrTiO3, Journal of Applied Physics, 91[3], 1487-94 (2002). This behavior has been also found in a series of polar-dielectrics, such as,  polymers and other ferroelectrics.
